Highland Magic makes original textile work from the particular character of Highland fleece. Woven, embroidered, spun and naturally coloured in the studio in Crieff, each piece begins with material whose origin can be traced back to a flock, a landscape and a season.

Making

Each work is built slowly through material, structure and colour: spun fibre, cloth, embroidery, handwoven surfaces and the irregularities that reveal the hand.

Materials and method

Fleece is sourced from specific Highland flocks, processed by small Scottish mills and returned to the studio for blending, dyeing and finishing by hand. Natural colour, handspun variation and the character of the fibre are integral to the finished work.
