Wool is not just a raw material. It is a record of breed, weather, grazing, husbandry, labour and skill. Highland Magic works to make those relationships visible — from the flock to the mill, the studio and the finished piece.

Why Highland fleece

Highland fleece has particular character: shaped by breed, place and season. Working with it asks for attention rather than standardisation, and makes it possible to tell a more truthful story about where wool comes from.

From flock to studio

Fleece is sourced directly from Highland flocks, sorted and skirted with care, processed by small Scottish mills, and returned to the studio for spinning, blending, dyeing and making. Every stage matters.

A useful future for wool

Highland Magic advocates for greater recognition of Scottish wool, the people who raise it, and the skills that allow it to become useful, beautiful material. The work is rooted in relationship: with farmers, mills, makers and the landscape.
