Growth Habit — Panels I, II, III, IV
Growth Habit I, II, III, IV (11x17”, 28x43cm per panel)
Original artworks, only one of each available.
The Growth Habit series explores the ways structure expands beyond its intended boundaries. Through handwoven cloth, handspun yarn, reclaimed fibres and stitch, these works examine growth, connection, interruption and emergence.
Mounted on birch panels, the textiles extend into the surrounding space through drilled and stitched interventions, allowing the work to move beyond the edges of the woven surface.
Each panel measures 11x17” and has frame supports on the back of the wood panel.
Meant to be hung in pairs or as a set of four.
Growth Habit I
A handwoven textile mounted on birch panel and extended through stitched interventions beyond the woven edge. Areas of open lattice and dense texture create a dialogue between structure and expansion, exploring how forms grow beyond their original boundaries.
Handspun yarn, reclaimed fibres, stitch and birch panel.
Growth Habit II
Built from layered handspun and reclaimed fibres, this piece balances soft neutrals with flashes of colour and texture. Stitching moves outward from the woven surface, suggesting networks of growth, attachment and connection extending into the surrounding space.
Handspun yarn, reclaimed fibres, stitch and birch panel.
Growth Habit III
A composition of pale tones, contrasting textures and scattered stitched marks. The surface is punctuated by crossings, interruptions and extensions, creating a sense of movement that reaches beyond the textile itself.
Handspun yarn, reclaimed fibres, stitch and birch panel.
Growth Habit IV
Rich textures, handspun yarns and open stitched structures combine to create a work that feels both woven and drawn. The stitched elements emerge from the cloth and spread across the support, echoing patterns of growth found in natural systems.
Handspun yarn, reclaimed fibres, stitch and birch panel.
